1. What is beauty for you?

Beauty in a person for me comes from the inside. It is something that radiates, like an aura. Obviously, the pure visual aesthetic plays a big role in first impressions also, I do not equal "beautiful" with "flawless". Many times I have noticed that people who did not seem "pretty" or "handsome" transformed into the most beautiful humans in my eyes as I got to know their personality better.

2.  Favorite beauty ingredient, and why?

My favorite beauty ingredients are essential oils. As a massage therapist and aromatherapist i am always impressed at the healing power of plants and live using essential oils both for their various uses externally as well as how their scent can affect our mood.

3. Your favorite body part?

My favorite body part used to be my mouth because I love talking and smiling and laughing. I miss seeing everyone's smiles when they are hidden behind masks when I am out and about - a friendly smile is such an easy and intuitive way to connect to one another. I am not sure if I have any favorite body parts on my own body at the moment. I tend to be very critical of the way I look. Maybe my stomach/belly. It carried my son, after all, and as a nutritionist I have a huge appreciation for my digestive system ;-)

4. Is there a special beauty routine you follow that is native to your background?

Germans love their spas, saunas and swimming pools, hot/cold water therapy and also going outside in every weather. I think this makes us resilient and healthy looking.

5.Is there special beauty rituals from your mom and grandmother?

My mother has a trick of splashing ice cold water into her face in the morning for rosy cheeks and a healthy glow. She also taught me to apply ould and body butter on damp skin. My grandmother lived until she was 97 years old. Even when she was alone in her big house, and not expecting any guests, she was always well groomed, dressed and manicured. I admire her deeply and hope i age as gracefully as she did.
